The Voice Of An Angel – Complete With A Harp Comes To Elmslie House – March 9 2022

Elmslie House is gearing up for a unique performance from singer, composer and harpist, Noemi Nuti as she prepares to perform at Malvern’s Avenue Road venue on Wednesday, March 9 2022.

Born and raised in New York from Italian descent, Noemi Nuti is a jazz and Latin singer and composer currently living in London. She studied classical harp at Brunel University and jazz improvisation and composition at Trinity College of Music as a vocalist, graduating with an MA in Jazz Performance in 2012.

A former member of the London Vocal Project led by Pete Churchill and lead singer of British Samba Band Rhythms of the City, Noemi has performed at numerous London venues. These include Ronnie Scott’s, The Crazy Coqs, the 606 Club and Islington Assembly Hall, as well as touring the UK and Brazil.

Noemi launched her Latin influenced debut album in 2015 Nice to Meet You, released on the Ubuntu Music label, which received extensive airplay on Jazz FM and has earned great critical acclaim from around the world.
Noemi Nuti is very active in the London scene, hosting a monthly residency known as ‘Brazilian Love Affair’ in London’s Soho, amongst a number of other projects.

In 2020 Nuti released a second album, Venus Eye, with world-wide praise. John Watson in Jazz Journal said: ‘It seems extraordinary that this is only the second release from as talented a singer as Noemi Nuti. She says in her booklet note that she decided to take a break after that first CD: “I really wanted to focus on what I wanted to say and how it was going to shine through the sound”. There’s certainly a lot of joy, and a range of many emotions, shining through this very accomplished new release.’
Most of the tracks are composed by Noemi, with pianist Andrew McCormack receiving joint credit for Hush The Sadness and Italian Lullaby, though the pianist on this disc is the very able Chris Eldred. McCormack is joint producer of the album, with Nuti.
A spokesperson for Blas – Jazz In Malvern said: ‘We are excited to welcome Noemi Nuti to Elmslie House. Jazz played on the harp is pretty unique in itself, and it will be fascinating to hear her original compositions in such a beautiful venue. The soaring flute playing of Gareth Lockrane will also be an absolute treat.’
Support will be provided by the talented alto saxophonist, Luke Chakrabati and his quintet of piano, bass, drums and trumpet, fresh from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Prepare to enjoy another fine evening of top quality jazz.
