Tenbury Wells, situated on the banks of the River Teme and marking the border between Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire, was once said to have been called “my little Town in the Orchard” by Queen Victoria. It is now perhaps best known for its annual holly and mistletoe sales which are said to be the largest in the country. As well as this, the incredible amount of orchards and hops grow some of the best cider and real ale in England.
You may already have fond memories from your time spent in the area from many years ago, and to be honest, you’ll still find a lot the same, with life passing by at a lot slower pace in the Teme Valley.
Spend some time in Tenbury Wells walking the Hidden Tenbury QR Trail to learn about the history of the town. Along the way, enjoy some pub grub in one of the black and white timber-framed pubs near the Round Market and spend some time mooching around the independent shops.
Further afield, you can enjoy a range of attractions including the Witley Court. Owned by English Heritage, this romantic ruin boasts a Perseus and Andromedia fountain firing 50 foot into the air and Britain’s finest Baroque church on site with Antonio Bellucci ceiling paintings.
Burford House Gardens is located a short distance from the town of Tenbury Wells and the original home of the National Garden of Clematis. The gardens have been lovingly restored by volunteers and you can also visit the garden centre and relax in the café.
There are plenty of outdoor activities if you’re after a more active break or you can find a picnic spot and just watch the tranquil river pass you by.

Tenbury Wells and the Teme Valley have recently experienced some of the worst floods in recent history. However, the town is now #OpenForBusiness and ready to welcome visitors once again.
