A new art gallery has opened in Great Malvern where you can learn more about the history of art and discover some interesting stories.
Andy and Holly at Brave Fine Art track down intriguing antique paintings and then work hard to research the lost history behind each one. In the gallery you’ll find various snippets of information relating to the artworks currently on display.
Andy explains “We’re passionate about art history and excited to share some of our finds with visitors here at the gallery. It’s fascinating when you get a breakthrough and begin to unravel an artist’s story.”
The collection at Brave consists of original oil paintings dating back as far as the 17th-century. One piece that immediately catches your eye is a 300 year old religious painting depicting The Assumption Of San Gennaro. Prior to arriving in Malvern, it was previously hanging in a church
in Naples.
Andy added “It’s a painting that once brought great hope following plague and famine in one of Italy’s most violent cities. When you spend a few moments with it, you begin to sense its rich history.”
And aside from Italy, you’ll also find a beautiful selection of artworks from Denmark, Germany, France, Sweden and Spain.
If you’re looking for a few moments of calm and you enjoy old paintings, do pop into view the collection at Brave. It’s a space where you can soak up the tranquillity without interruption (as there are no salespeople only researchers!)
