A magical Christmas Augmented reality trail for families to enjoy is coming to The Malverns. Featuring cutting edge Augmented Reality and QR code technology, where you can watch ten festive characters come to life and follow their story through each town centre.
This Christmas, Santa needs YOU! Rudolph is taking a well-earned year off from his duties on Santa’s Sleigh but Santa is so busy that he doesn’t have time to decide who, from the whole animal kingdom, is fit to take his place. This is where you come in, act as a Christmas talent detective and visit the hopeful creatures looking to take Rudolph’s top spot as they hide around the town. When you have visited all the animals, cast your vote to help Santa decide!
Malvern Hills District Council have teamed up with High Street Safari to offer a free Augmented Reality Christmas trail in each of Malverns five town centres. The trail will provide a safe, fun and exciting way to get little ones out in the fresh air this festive season, with plenty of opportunities to fit in your Christmas shopping along the way. The trail works by using contactless QR codes placed in shop windows so anyone with a smartphone will be able to take part. Along the trail ten specially designed animals will come to life in 3D Augmented Reality; you are even able to take selfies and record video with the adorable creatures. At the end of the trail, when all the animals have been visited, an e-book concluding the characters tale is won.
The trail is designed to be completely contactless and the characters are positioned outside shops so there is no need to go inside to participate. The trail can be done in multiple trips and at any time of day. So take in some fresh air and stretch your legs around the town centre, or do some festive shopping at the wonderful mix of independent shops that are hosting the characters.
The trail will run in Tenbury Wells, Upton-upon-Severn, Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Barnards Green from 20 November to 31 December 2021. To find out more please visit the High Street Safari website
