Event Description
Another thought-provoking masterpiece from director Wes Anderson (Grand Budapest Hotel) and his regular star-studded team of actors including Bill Murray & Tilda Swinton.
It brings to life a collection of tales published in the eponymous The French Dispatch, based in the fictional French city of Ennui-sur-Blasé. The film is inspired by Anderson’s love of The New Yorker and some characters and events in the film are based on real-life equivalents from the magazine.
It has everything that we’ve come to expect from Wes Anderson: intricately layered details and fanatically meticulous design, perfect colour palettes and an intricate tableaux of actors; invariably his films reward a second viewing. That is most certainly the case with The French Dispatch.
As sad, thoughtful and funny as anything Anderson has ever made, this is a sparkling gem in the illustrious career of a film-maker who refuses to be pinned down, even when everyone thinks they have him figured out.
